The College of Fellows, founded in 1952, is composed of members of the Institute who are elected to Fellowship by a national jury of their peers. Fellowship is one of the highest honors the AIA can bestow upon a member, representing approximately 2% of AIA-member architects. Elevation to Fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of the architect as an individual but also elevates before the public and the profession those architects who have made significant contributions to architecture and to society.

The Committee, as part of AIA Philadelphia, promotes the recognition of member achievements through the annual review of eligible members and support of potential candidates for Fellowship (FAIA). The Chapter’s newest members of the College are celebrated at the annual summer dinner organized by the Committee and are recognized during the annual Design Awards Celebration.  

Working in concert with AIA Philadelphia, the Fellows Committee also serves as jury for the Chapter’s Young Architect Award, presented each year at the Design Awards Celebration event.
